The two Santorin originators from Tübingen are already
a producer duo since the days of "Treasure Island", "Days Like
This" (Ambassadors) and "Confidential Thoughts" (Super8Sound).
At least they teamed up to create the rootical "Rhythm
Track" (Flute & Rhythm), some serious beatdribblin'
tune featuring some wicked African drumming, to take you to
the immaculate roots of broken beats. |

Tyler
Straub artist site
He eats lemons like normal food (California!), he sold his level
60 war craft character (700.- USD!) to get some turntables (crate
digger!), he was a drummer in jazz bands (band geek!), he does
sound design for video games & film ("growing up all
I did was play games...") and he'll be the next promising
artist on Santorin (pretty cool!). Welcome on board, Mr Tyler
Straub. "I'm pretty simple: I just do sound and music."

Bachelors
Of Science artist site
Their unique blend of classical strings, soulful vocals and
deep bass has been hailed as “a refreshing musical approach
to Drum'n'Bass and a return to the true sound of Liquid Funk”.
The Bachelors of Science are Phil "Rene", a producer and classically
trained musician born in New Zealand and raised in the UK, and
DJ Fokus also from the UK, previously known for playing the
hardcore and early jungle scene from 91-95 in the UK. The duo
met out in California and rapidly gained airplay from top DJs. |

Cycom
artist site
After spending countless hours deciphering the rhythmic mayhem
of breakbeat music, Cycom released his first tracks on mp3.com.
From then on, things quickly evolved - his first 12", a remix
of Simon Vs "Broken Promise", dropped in 2000. The Hamburg guy
is renown for his distinctive sound and trademarkbeats. He also
runs the netlabel Plainaudio
together with Iaka, Martsman, Flowpro and Buzz.

Telmo A started DJing in '93 being inspired by the energy of
Breakbeats. Since then he and Lightwood have launched a career
as a DJ-team, built up the Pressure event and the Ultrawide
radio show. His production skills vary from deep emo rollers
to a dubby partysound for the shake-a-leg massive. It's all
about the vibe. |

the Santorin posse, hits your ears with some anthem-like vocals
to keep spreading the virus of british origin, this time completely
in German. Now you get the opportunity to create your idea of
how to spread the jungle fever applying the original accapella
by Double J. The winner of this remix-contest
will be rewarded with a Santorin release and an exclusive Vinyl-Dubplate.
You are free to work with the vocals (tempo of the song is 179
BPM) however you like, no limits! The Santorin-jury will choose
one winner among all participants. Pass in your track by using
"How to send a demo".

EH3C is pure fun: Bollywood-Jungle at its best. Sebastian Falter
(and partly Björn Hülpüsch) from Tübingen are known for
a huge scale of different styles. On the one hand evil, on the
other hand divine, nuskool in the first, oldschool at least,
there is nothing, refering to the Drum'n'Bass-genre, these guys
wouldn't have touched yet. Their live-acting is a noncategorical
experience. It's Drum'n'Bass in the end but they load it in
omnicolor. |

Contour

From Liquid Funk to Urban Grime. Contour lives in Helsinki,
Finland (ooops, that's Tübingen on the picture on the left).
He has been playing in live bands quite a lot, but soon started
doing it all by himself. Rhythm and bass have always been the
two things he mainly focuses on, even though Contour started
as a guitarist. Contour's music of the mind includes 50s and
60s jazz, 70s funk, 80s fusion and a slight touch of classical
music. |

"I listen to a lot of Jazz and vintage Funk, but also Old School
Hip Hop. I try to carry this vibe into Drum'n'Bass music," says
Alex, better known among heads as Young Ax. "Back in the days
I was fascinated by breaking down and cutting the music. Then,
when I was on the road with "No Solo", there was just Hip Hop
for me. When I was eleven, I was watching "Beat Street" and
it stuck. This easy way of performing music, partying, dancing
- similar to Drum'n'Bass today". |
